Human Design Advice to Sleep Alone – My Honey Won’t Like That!

09/11/2019

The practice of sleeping alone is encouraged in Human Design circles. If you’ve heard this advice you may have resistance about doing it. I can totally understand that. So I want to take a few minutes here to explain what the advice to sleep alone is about and how it can benefit you. Then I want to give you some practical understanding of how you can apply this practice of sleeping alone to your life without disrupting your relationship with your honey.

Ra Uru Hu (the founder of Human Design) said something about the topic of sleeping alone that really stuck with me. I’m paraphrasing, but I remember hearing him say that when you go to sleep with someone else, you never wake up as yourself.

So it’s the same concept as in our waking life. We are always being conditioned and taking in energy from other people into our energy fields, amplifying it, and it can put us into that not-self experience. The same thing happens when we sleep, except we’re even more vulnerable to the conditioning field. We can’t just get up and go outside when we’re sleeping.

As an aside, your waking human design chart, the one that you probably have, is different from your sleep chart. And sometimes people who are very defined when they’re awake are less defined when they sleep, or it can be vice versa. It depends on how the neutrinos dreams are hitting you. They hit you from the top when you’re in the waking, vertical state and when you’re horizontal, the neutrino streams hit you in a different way. You don’t really have to know the sleep design of somebody next to you to begin to experiment with how you feel when you sleep with that person and how you feel when you sleep in alone.

What is meant by sleeping alone? Does it mean that the other person sleeps in the next room? How far apart do you have to be? If there is a wall between us, does that count? A lot of my clients ask these types of questions, and you may be wondering too. Sleeping alone has to do with the physical distance between you and the other person.

Your auric field extends about two arms lengths in distance around your entire body. So stick out your arms and then imagine another arm’s length of extension past that. And that’s how far out your auric field extends. It extends that far up above your head, down below your feet, in front of you and behind you. And the other person has the same kind of range with their auric field. So we’re looking at four arm’s lengths distance between you and the other person. And I don’t know of any kind of bed that is that big. If you have one, that’s great, you can sleep on one end and they can sleep on the other.

If you’re in an apartment and your bed is up against a wall where somebody else has their bed or their couch and they’re sitting or laying there and you’re on the other side of the wall, you’re in their auric field, and you’re being conditioned by their energy field when you’re sleeping. So sleeping alone has to do with the distance between you and the other people around you. A wall does not shield you from another person’s aura.

If you’re in a loving relationship and you live in a culture where it’s desirable to cuddle and to be very close to your partner, you or your honey are probably feeling resistant to the idea of sleeping alone. You may be wondering about intimate relations too. You can still do all of whatever it is that brings you two together closer. But when it comes time for you to go to sleep and leave your conscious waking state, it’s important for you to have that time apart.

I want to encourage you to just try this, even if you just do it a few times a week. You’re going to find a difference in the way that you feel when you wake up in the morning. When I was first married and I was fairly new to my Human Design experiment, there were times when I really felt like I had to take my pillow and go to another room to sleep. But I was a little bit resistant to that sleeping alone thing too. I remember the first time I did it with my new honey. The first time I did it, I was laying in bed and I just could not relax. I was all abuzz in my body and my muscles were tense. I just couldn’t get to sleep. So I took my pillow and I went to our spare room down the hall. As soon as I went into that room and I laid down, the difference in my level of relaxation was palpable and I fell right to sleep. It was one of the best night’s sleep I ever had. The next morning I woke up and I felt like a totally different person. Now it may not be that dramatic for you, but I’m just sharing this as an experience and to show you how potentially different you could feel.

Waking up like that really showed me or clued me into how I feel in my body when I’m truly aligned with myself, when I’m cleared out, cleaned out and living from my own blueprint. So I encourage you to try to get your partner on board. Maybe do this as an experiment to start with, a couple of times a week. And if it doesn’t work for you, then it doesn’t work for you.

Regardless of whether you sleep alone or not, it’s so important to discharge energy on a regular basis whenever you can. And that goes for even going out alone. Even if you live in an urban area, try going out to parks where you have that kind of a two arm’s length distance between you and the next person. If you’re taking a walk, try not to engage directly with the people that you pass, so that you can stay self-contained in your energy field. All of that will help you to discharge energy, to come back to yourself, to stay in your own aura and decondition. Time alone gets you aligned with the power of the way that your energy works.

If you’re curious about your sleep chart, and you, you’re not sure how to get your hands on one, I can run you a sleep chart if that’s what you really want. I do charge a small fee for that. You can Contact Me to get the details. I have to either pay an assistant or take the time to do that. So that’s why I charge a little bit for it.
